Summer Reading Recommendations

You like to read and I like to read, so let’s read together! I have compiled a list of book recommendations for over the summer period, whether you are basking under the hot Spanish sun or having lunch in the Pret near your office.

If you’re going on holiday…
If you are going to be spending some time by a poolside with nothing to do but read, I have some crackers for you! If you’re after something scandalous and a little sexy:

pool

The House Swap
The Pool House (plus anything Tasmina Perry)
Anything for Her
Last Cry

While quite different, these four books are perfect grippers for reading in the sunshine. They may make you gasp and look like a mad person trying to race to the finish line, but you’ll get through them in no time on your sun bed.

If you’re more of a summer in the city kind of person…
I would recommend reading something that will encompass city life:SC

Social Creature
Ragdoll/Hangman
Now You See

Social Creature looks into the elite lives of women in the upper east side of New York, while the two crime novels will give you a tour of those places in their entirety, especially Hangman!

If you can only dream of getting away…
You’re broke, or working too hard, or have young children and just can’t manage to get away this year, stay close to home with these town-reads:the outsider

Where the Light Gets In
The Water Cure
Dark Game
The Outsider

Where the Light Gets In will offer some light-hearted relief from the stresses of daily life, while The Water Cure will comfort you that you are not nearly as trapped as the women in that novel. The Outsider and Dark Game are two different sides of crime fiction set in local towns.

If you don’t mind…
And if you simply don’t care where you are and just want to read a cracking thriller:

Need to Know
dmasDon’t Make a Sound
Savage Island
If He Wakes

All of these 2017/18 releases are brilliant, refreshing novels which take their genres by surprise. If you are just looking for any incredible books to read, have a look through this and any other book blogs you may follow and pick out one or two from each at random; you’re bound to love at least a few!
